Amundsen Race: MacroGard®-dogs win double

30 March 2008
Team Norway and the MacroGard®-dogs conquered the two first places in the first Amundsen Race. The Winner Robert Sørlie was a mere 40 seconds ahead of teammate Bjørnar Andersen. The race is 426 km long.

1 day, 19 hours and 35 minutes was all Robert and his MacroGard®-dogs needed to run from Östersund in Sweden, cross the Norwegian border and speed into the finish in Røros. He reached the line on Sunday March 30 in the afternoon.

The very first Amundsen Race, named after the man who won the race for the South Pole, turned into a photo finish. During the last hours , Sørlie's nephew and team mate in Team Norway, Bjørnar Andersen, munched in on leader. On the home stretch into the Unesco World Heritage listed town of Røros, he had his uncle within sight.

Both Sørlie and Andersen give their dogs the immune stimulating feed additive MacroGard®. They do it to strengthen the innate immune defence, thus upgrading the general health status of the dogs. This makes them even more fit and motivated to pull and run.

Only three weeks ago all the dogs in Bjørnar Andersen's pack had crossed Alaska, placing 9th in Iditarod, the world's longest sled dog race covering some 1,700 km.
